Opening Festivity of the Western Romanian Branch of the Society for the German Language (GfdS – Wiesbaden/Berlin)

On 15 April 2019, the Western Romanian Branch of the Society for the German Language (Gesellschaft für deutsche Sprache GfdS) has been opened at Partium Christian University.

The opening lecture was held by Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Knipf-Komlósi (Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest) on the dynamics of the German vocabulary and the varieties of the German language: Dynamik im Wortschatz und die Varietätenfrage im Gegenwartsdeutschen.

The Society for the German Language (GfdS) is a non-profit association for the popularization and research of the German language that is supported by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK) and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The GfdS has established about 100 branches in Germany and all over the world.

The Western Romanian Branch of the Society for the German Language organizes two public lectures per year. The next public lecture will take place in November 2019.
